Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Margaret graduated from Oxford University in England with a degree in Zoology, and from the University of Manchester with a PhD in Biochemistry. She moved to California with her husband, Jamis, in 1976 and worked at SRI in Menlo Park for a year before they bought property in the South Skyline area and started a family. They raised three sons, all of whom still live in the Bay Area.
In 1991 Margaret and Jamis established Buck’s Restaurant in Woodside, which they personally operated until the pandemic struck. It became a Silicon Valley icon. When covid restrictions were lifted, Buck’s reopened as a 2.0 version, with their sons at the helm.
